Diagnosis and Treatment

Lecture´s Description

Actinomycosis
In the following lecture, the topic of Actinomycosis and Whipple’s disease is discussed. In section one, the educator focuses on Actinomycosis and how this disease clinically presents itself. In addition to this, Etiologic Agents are discussed along with their Pathogenesis and Pathology, with a prime focus to explain how these agents damage various membranes inside the body to survive and establish the disease. Furthermore, the educator also discusses the Diagnosis of Actinomycosis.

Actinomycosis: Clinical Features
The topic of ‘Actinomycosis: Clinical Features’ is highlighted in section two. The educator sheds light on the clinical features of actinomycosis by discussing various diseases such as Oral Cervicofacial Disease, Thoracic Disease, Abdominal Disease, Pelvic Disease, Central Nervous System Disease, Musculoskeletal and Soft Tissue Infection and Disseminated Disease. Moreover, there is also an elaboration on Treatment of Actinomycosis.

Whipple’s Disease
Section three consists of information regarding Whipple’s Disease and in this section, the educator  specifically elaborates on the causative agent and diagnosis tests of this disease. Apart from this, the characteristics of causative agent T. Whipplei are discussed along with its Pathogenicity and Pathology.

Whipple’s Disease: Clinical Manifestations
Section four is about Whipple’s Disease: Clinical Manifestations where the educator explains those different diseases in the form of which T. Whipplei clinically manifests itself. In this effort, the author has discussed and elucidated the symptoms of Asymptomatic Colonization/Carriage, Acute Infection, Chronic Infection, Neurologic Disease, Cardiac Disease, Pulmonary Disease, Lymphatic Disease, Ocular Disease and Dermatologic Disease.

Diagnosis and Treatment
Section five is dedicated to the Diagnosis and Treatment of Whipple’s Disease. The educator starts with clarifying the concept of Miscellaneous Sites and then discusses Isolated Infections involved in Whipple’s disease. Immune Reconstitution Inflammatory Syndrome is also described. After this, the author progresses to explain various techniques of Diagnosis and the different options available for Treatment of Whipple’s disease which include Classic Whipple’s Disease and Chronic Localized Infections.
