Classification of Steroidal Hormones
In this lecture ´´ Adrenal Steroid Hormones ´´ are explained. Section one is about ´´ Classification of Steroidal Hormones´´, which revolves around the hormones produced by adrenal cortex. Classification of the steroid hormones is discussed according to structure and function, following which the relation of structure with function is explored.

Section two is about ‘’ Glucocorticoids “. In the start of this section, biosynthesis of glucocorticoid is thoroughly studied and explained. The mechanism of action and types of receptors are then discussed by the educator. In the end, the clinical aspects and adrenal androgens are analysed and discussed.

Metabolic Role of Glucocorticoids
Section three is about ‘‘Metabolic Role of Glucocorticoids”. This session begins by explaining the metabolic role of glucocorticoids. The educator further discusses the effects of carbohydrate metabolism. The metabolic role of glucocorticoids is then explained through its effects on liver metabolism and adipocytes. A summary is given by the end of the section, while shedding some light on the clinical aspects.

Section four is about ‘Mineralocorticoids’’. This session begins by demonstrating the structure of mineralocorticoids and the synthesis of aldosterone. The mechanism of action of mineralocorticoids and its renal effects are then elaborated by the educator. Renin-angiotensin system is explored in the end of this session, to explain the functions and actions of Angiotensin I and Angiotensin II.

Adrenal Medullary Hormones
Section five is about Adrenal Medullary Hormones. Biosynthesis, storage and Clinical Significance of adrenal medullary hormones is explained in the beginning. Glycogenolysis and Metabolic role of catecholamines is demonstrated by the educator by the end of this session.

Ms. Maham Afridi joined Quaid E Azam University as a research scholar in 2017, Before that she served in Core lab of National University Science and Technology Islamabad. She also served in Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in their department of Immunology, where her major roles were detection of antibodies and other immunology tests, genetic counselling etc.  

Ms. Maham has full command on Genotyping of human genes, Risk assessment of genetic disorders, Diagnostic tests (TyphiDot, ELISA, Allergy tests), HPLC, PCR, Immunohistochemistry, Cell and tissue staining, Bacterial culturing, Cell culturing, DNA extraction, SDS PAGE, Gel Electrophoresis, Spectrophotometry.

Ms. Maham was awarded by Pak China Business forum in Recognition for poster presentation.  Currently she is working as research assistant for HEC project in NUST.
