In this lecture ´´Disorders of Organelles´´ are explained. Section one is about ´´Cell´´. At first, educator give information about types of microscopy. Then talks about cell membranes. Following this, reports the characteristics of cell membrane. In the end, movement across cell membrane is discussed.
Section two is about ‘’Mitochondria’’. Initially, a brief overview of mitochondria is given. After that metabolism of glucose is pursued. Then citric acid cycle in mitochondria is discussed. Subsequently, oxidative phosphorylation in inner mitochondrial matrix is highlighted. Lastly, educator sheds light on mitochondrial inheritance.
Section three is about ‘’Mitochondrial Disorders’’. In the beginning, educator comprehensively introduces mitochondrial disorders. Then pathophysiology of mitochondrial disorders is discussed. This is followed by elucidation of pattern of mitochondrial inheritance. Moving onward, discussion continues on Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON). Afterwards, mitochondrial syndromes are reported. At last, information about diagnosis of mitochondrial disorders is given.
Membrane Bounded Organelles and Cytoskeleton
Section four is about ‘’Membrane Bounded Organelles and Cytoskeleton’’. Earlier in this section endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi complex are explained. Educator then discusses ER and Golgi dysfunction. After that, membrane-bounded vesicles come under consideration. Following this, lysosomal storage disorders are elaborated. Likewise, related disorders are discussed. Next focus is on the elucidation of cytoskeleton. Alongside, cytoskeletal disorders are pursued comprehensively in the end of this section.
Other Cellular Organelles
Section five is about ‘’Other Cellular Organelles’’. Educator’s fist subject of discussion is cilia, flagella and cell surface specializations. After that comparative discussion continues on cilia and flagella. Then cilia and flagella disorders are pursued. Furthermore, light is shed on nucleus and centrioles. This is followed by explanation of related disorders. At last, clinical correlation is given.
