Lecture´s Description

In this video lecture, educator introduces the concept of secondary pathway of carbohydrate metabolism and how it is different from glycolysis. Some reversible and some irreversible reactions occur during this process.

Biochemically this process is very important as it involves formation of NADPH. There is reduction of hydrogen peroxide, then process of phagocytosis takes place. Carbohydrate metabolism is very significant.

Glucuronic acid pathway does not produce energy. It involves many reactions and has many significance. Essential pentosuria is a rare genetic disorder.
