Bile acid sequestrants include colesevelam, colestipol and cholestyramine. These drugs are responsible for lowering LDL level in body. Bile acid sequestrants when administered form a complex with the bile acid salt. This complex cannot be absorbed and excreted as such in urine. Thus, decreasing the level of bile acid salt in the liver.
