In this lecture ´´Presenting Research Findings´´ are explained. Section one is about ´´Communicating Statistics´´. Educator starts this section by telling why we need communicating statistics. In communicating statistics, presenting study results and formats for presenting are also discussed. After that information is delivered on producing journal articles. Then sections of an article come under consideration. Next is the elucidation of statistical items included in research articles.
Research Articles: Abstract
Section two is about ‘’Research Articles: Abstract’’. At first educator gives an introduction of research articles: abstracts. Following this, reasons for poor quality abstracts are presented. Subsequently, importance of good quality abstracts is highlighted. Moreover, key points for presenting the statistics in abstracts are reported. Afterwards, educator talks about structured abstracts. Last subject of discussion is non-structured abstracts.
Research Articles: Main Body
Section three is about ‘’Research Articles: Main Body’’. In the beginning, educator gives research articles: introduction. After that research articles: methods section is presented. Then information about presenting sample size calculations is conveyed. Moving onward, research articles: results section comes under consideration. Educator comprehensively talks about components of results. Then some examples of research articles: results section are elaborated. Consort diagram is illustrated later on. Moreover, reporting statistical analyses is explained. Afterwards, discussion continues on presenting the results. Then research articles: discussion section is pursued. Lastly, structure for discussion is exhibited.
Section four is about ‘’Presenting Statistics’’. Educator's prime focus is the elucidation of numerical results and rounding. After that example: mean and standard deviation is discussed. Then example: proportion and percentage are elaborated. Furthermore, presenting statistics: P values are focused. This is followed by presenting statistics: tables and graphs. Moving onward, general guidelines for tables and graphs are given.
Statistics and Publication Process
Section five is about ‘’Statistics and Publication Process’’. Educator explains in detail the statistics and publication process. Then research articles: guidelines are discussed which includes CONSORT guidelines and equator network. Moreover, educator talks about manuscript rejection. At last, common causes for rejection are reported.
